Room far too hot - no means of cooling it when requested other than to draw back curtains and open windows. These looked out into an open courtyard overlooked by other bedrooms which meant others could look into my bedroom.
System for stocking mini bar antiquated in this modern age.No sign on reception desk when I checked in saying I had to get a key from reception. So went to my room, rad a notice in the room saying I had to get a key from recepetion. Went back to reception to get key only to discover bar more or less empty! All a guest wants after a journey and in a hot room is easy access to the mini bar - especially since this hotel has very restricted main bar hours. Why not restock the mini-bar every day? Why does the guest have to keep askingfor this to happen? For if they stock when you ask, the bottles are not chilled. It felt like I was doing their work for them. Manager I spoke to became very argumentative and unsympathetic. It took the helpful bell boy, two hours later, to suggest I be relocated to another room.
Warm food at breakfast was cold!
On checking out, a notice had appeared on reception desk re mini bar services! It ceretainly wasn't visible when I checked in. Had it been there, why did the manager not simply refer to it when I asked "Why could I not be told on checking in that I need to request a key?"
In the room I relocated to - the jacuzzi bath system did not work, there was a constant dreadful smell in the bathroom, shower sachets never replenished during my three days and my drinking glass was never washed during that time either. I didn't bother bringing any of this to their attention after my experience on check-in day.
Hotels need to teach staff what true customer service means and then customers will not get annoyed as I did.
Top Tip:
Barcelona has much to offer - and this hotel is near the final stop on teh train from the airport, lots of atmospheric local lanes and of course the famous Las Ramblas.
