Hotel is past its former glory, however room (210)we had was clean and very comfortable. Bathroom had an excellent shower with loads of piping hot water. Resturant was well patronised by the locals which is always a good sign. Door security could be a problem, however safe was available at a very reasonable €2.5 a night. For a 2* Hotel it has a lot to recommend. If you want 4/5* amenities etc don't bother, however if all you want is clean and comfortable then go for it. Would definately use it again. Area is not the most salubrious, however Hotel is 50m from Ramblas, take normal sensible security precautions and you should be fine.

Top Tip:
Barcelona has so much to offer, just enjoy, best over a weekend. Tip change your Pounds into Euro's before you go, exchange rate is not brilliant. Post Office is giving best value at moment. Food is not cheap but of superb quality, have yet to have had a bad meal. Lunch and plate de jour menu's give fantastic value. My favorite city in Spain. It is still very Spanish so it helps if you have a smattering of the language.
