The hotel was way too warm and had no air conditioning available which made my stay very uncomfortable and we requested adjoining rooms which were allocatedwhen we checked in but were not all ready so we left our luggage etc in one room and went out however when we returned we were then allocated other rooms on different floors so our party was broken up but we could not get a proper explaination why this happened just the usual european shrug of the shoulders which i find very rude.

Top Tip

Montserrat worth a visit and a lovely restaurant called la bacco upstairs over another cafe called nuria near the top of las ramlas.

Evening meal was the same offering every night - we may have eaten in more than once!!

Top Tip

Recommend walk down to the port via Le Rambla. The zoo is a lovely place to visit. Dont just book a few days - you need at least 2 weeks to see all you would like. Use the Bus Tourisimo - a great way to get around

We were in Barcelona for 3 days so we booked a 2 day ticket for the tourist bus which took us to many of the highlights and you can jump on and off the bus any time, if you miss one, there is another one just minutes behind. We liked El FresCo restaurant, (about 5 mins from the hotel) brilliant fresh salad, help yourself, all you can eat place, along with large salad selection there is soup, hot food counter, selection of fresh fruit and icecream, coffee/tea and a glass of wine for under 10 euros!

the Hotel is in a good location not far from rambla and bus stops. The one problem with the hotel is noise. It carries from the other rooms and hallways and if you are a light sleeper it will wake you.

The beds are very very firm. not so comfortable but the rooms were clean. The triple rooms are quite small and difficult for 3 people to move around. The double rooms are quite spacious.

Great location - very close to stops for airport and tourist buses and quieter at night than a hotel on las Ramblas would have been. Lovely room with little balcony overlooking the street. Excellent shower in the marble bathroom; good selection of hot and cold food for breakfast and very helpful, friendly staff. Our flight back did not leave BCN until 21.10 so we paid 50 Euros and kept the room on until the evening - well worth it. Free internet access was useful(2 laptops are set up in the reception area).

Top Tip

Cafe d'Or (on the corner of Gravina and Pelai) was very handy and had lovely tapas at great prices. Not a tourist trap and very unpretentious. There is a little 'open all hours' supermarket just to the left as you leave the hotel - useful for bottled water, snacks etc. and means you do not need to lug bags from shops further away. The open top tourist buses stop in Placa Catlalunya, but there can be huge queues and it is very disorganised in terms of who is getting on to which bus - check to see if you want to use the red or blue routes, depending on which sites you hope to visit. Queues along the routes are also crazy when you try to get back on, but worth it to experience the city!
